Now

Here's what I'm up to and in to lately. Think about making your own "now" page. You can find some reasons why to do so here.

Learning

I'm teaching myself HTML, CSS and JavaScript using freeCodeCamp. So far I've completed everything for the responsive web design certification (not that you can tell from looking at this site :-), and I'm beginning the JavaScript algorithms and data structures certification. It's going well and my engagement is high.

Gaming

I'm GM'ing Deep Carbon Observatory for my gaming group, using Cairn for the system.

If I were to start again, I'd trim down the material in DCO. It's a lot to juggle, especially with my ADHD. We're nearing the end and it's been a bit of a slog. In fact, at this very momement, I'm avoiding some game prep for tomorrow night's sesssion because I'm not feeling very inspired.

This is my first time running a campaign of any length with Cairn. There's a lot I like about the system, but it's not the forever system I was hoping it would be for me. I have to think about it more, but off the dome, I'm missing the progression and niche protection offered by class-based systems. I probably need to get more experience to give it a fair try though.

Slackware

I've been running a mix of Slackware-15.0 and -current on my machines for the past few years. Slackware has taught me a lot about and there's a good chance it's my forever linux distro for workstations and servers.

I've written a few slackbuild scripts for SlackBuilds.org, and I maintain a few more, in addition. SBo is the official unoffical source for software not included in Slackware, similar to FreeBSD ports, pkgsrc or the AUR if you're familiar with any of those. Here are my scripts. I'm most proud of openzfs, dracut and sanoid.
